Availability and licensing
Starlink Costa Rica SRL appears in SUTEL’s official operator register. The regulator also publishes its registered satellite internet consumer contract. Check Starlink’s ordering tool with your service address to see which plans and equipment are offered there.
What does Starlink cost in Costa Rica?
The official Costa Rica plan page displayed the following monthly prices when checked on 6 September 2026:

Prices and availability can change. Residential Lite and Residential were advertised with unlimited data, but Lite can be slower at peak times and is not offered everywhere. Roam 50 GB has a data allowance and charges for additional use. Travel, in-motion and coastal use have plan-specific conditions; do not assume that a residential subscription covers them.

Will it work well at your property?
The antenna needs a clear view of the sky. Nearby trees, buildings or roof structures can interrupt the connection. Use the Starlink app’s obstruction checker before choosing a mounting position. Arrange suitable installation help where safe access or roof work is required.
Performance varies with the plan, network demand, obstructions and the home network. A speed reported by another customer is not a guarantee for your address. For remote work, assess upload speed, video-call stability and latency as well as download speed. Test Wi-Fi in the room where you actually work.
Rain, power and backup connections
Starlink says moderate to heavy rain, hail and other severe weather can cause momentary dropouts. It should not be presented as immune to Costa Rica’s downpours or automatically more reliable than every wired connection.
The equipment also needs power. If a connection is essential for your work, consider an appropriate power backup and a second connection with different failure risks. A mobile backup is useful only where its signal and data allowance meet your needs.
Does the router have Ethernet ports?
The Starlink Gen 3 router has two Ethernet LAN ports. The earlier Gen 2 router has no built-in Ethernet port and uses a separate adapter. A wired connection can help separate indoor Wi-Fi problems from the satellite connection itself.
Starlink or fibre: which should you choose?
Request address-specific quotes rather than relying on a town’s general coverage. Fibre can be an attractive option where available, especially for substantial uploads, but compare the actual plan and service terms. Satellite may suit a property with limited wired options or provide an additional connection.
